Former wife of celebrity photographer Dean Freeman charged with murdering 10-year-old son in Acton

The ex-wife of a celebrity photographer was appearing in court today charged with the murder of their 10-year-old son.

Olga Freeman, 40, was due at Uxbridge magistrates’ court after Dylan was found dead at their flat in west London.

The Metropolitan Police said a woman walked into a police station in the early hours yesterday to speak to officers. The boy was later found dead at the home in Cumberland Park, Acton.

Freeman’s husband Dean Freeman is a lifestyle and fashion photographer, who has published photography books on David Beckham, the Spice Girls, Kelly Brook and Michael Bublé. His father Robert Freeman shot the covers for the first five Beatles albums.

Olga Freeman is due to appear in custody at Uxbridge magistrates’ court.

Neighbours described how the boy used a wheelchair. Keith Grindrod, 73, said he was woken by a noise from the home next door in the middle of the night.

He added: “It sounded like a little scream next door, it was a childish scream. It was just enough to wake me up. Then I woke up at about 6am and looked out the window and saw a police car outside.”

One resident, named only as Guy, told The Sun the boy had a severe disability. He said: “The boy lives in the bottom flat to the right and my friend lives above. He is pretty cut up about it.”

When asked about the boy, Guy added: “I never saw them out, I don’t think they went out and about. They just had access to the garden.”

Reverend Nick Jones, 61, the rector of Acton, who lives in Cumberland Park, said news of the boy’s death was “shattering”. He added: “I’m still shaking a bit, it’s hugely upsetting.”

Another neighbour said police cars and a private ambulance arrived at the scene at about 2.30am on Sunday.

Detectives from Specialist Crime are investigating. A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
