Wife killer Chardon 'dies in Qld jail'

Convicted wife killer John William Chardon has reportedly died in prison after a heart attack. (AAP)

A Queensland millionaire convicted of killing his wife has reportedly died in prison.

John William Chardon, 73, was found guilty of manslaughter in September last year after his wife Novy Chardon, 34, disappeared from their Gold Coast mansion in 2013 amid a divorce dispute.

Her body has never been found.

Chardon was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

The Courier-Mail reports Chardon died of a heart attack at Wolston Correctional Centre in Wacol, southwestern Brisbane, on Wednesday night.

Queensland Corrective Services told the publication a 73-year-old prisoner suffered an apparent "medical incident" and paramedics were unable to resuscitate the man.
