NAKHON RATCHASIMA: A man was seriously injured and his wife killed after a pick-up truck they were travelling in skidded off a rural road and rammed into a tree in Lam Thamenchai district on Saturday, police said.
The accident took place at about 5.20pm near Ban Nong Ma Khua villlage in tambon Chong Maew on rural road No 4047 (Chumphuang-Thamenchai).
Police and rescue volunteers from a local charity foundation found Wasant Kwanyuen, 28, the driver, and his wife Pawinee Prairam, 20, unconscious in the vehicle. After lifting them out, rescuers administered CPR before sending them to Lam Thamenchai Hospital. Ms Pawinee was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police were investigating. Local villagers said this was the third accident to have happened on this part of the road during the past few months.
