Wife forces in-laws to stay in a hotel after they complained about bedroom noise

A woman has left her in-laws fuming after she suggested they stay in a hotel when they complained about bedroom noise when they stayed over in her home. The woman took to Reddit to explain that she would pay for a room in a hotel for them nearby so they would not have to put up with any noise but the in-laws were less than impressed with this.

The wife explained that her and her husband recently bought a second home to be closer to her partner's work, and this caused issues as her in-laws saw it as an excuse to visit more often.

She said: "They said it’s the perfect excuse to take a vacation and to put in some extra quality time with us. The thought of hosting them for a week is not my idea of a good time".

She went on to say she has come to enjoy her second home and being away from others with her husband much more.

"Being alone with my husband without having to hear noises from other people, or worry we’re making too much noise has been so nice," she said.

But things did not go swimmingly when her in-laws came to stay as they overheard some intimate moments between the couple.

"He [the husband] ran out to get us all breakfast and my mother-in-law pulled me aside and let me know she could hear mine and my husband's 'intimate moments' the night before and requested we keep it down," explained the author.

"I told her that if she would like, there's a lovely hotel just 15 minutes away that my husband and I would be more than happy to pay for."

However, her mother-in-law was less than impressed to hear this and told the husband when he got home that she should apologise.

In response, many have been quick to support the author with one saying: "The polite thing to do would be for her to pretend she didn't hear you and get some earplugs, but if she were polite she wouldn't have invited herself to your home in the first place."

While another said: "You offered to pay for their hotel as a compromise solution. They wanted obedience instead, and that's ridiculous."
