PUNE: The Dehu Road police on Sunday arrested a 19-year-old woman, her mother and the latter’s friend on the charge of murdering the young woman’s husband, Akash Gorkhe (28), on January 30, after which they allegedly dumped his body into a drainage line at Chikhali.
Police said three more accomplices were on the run.
“The man’s wife, who had filed a missing person’s complaint earlier, told us during questioning that her husband was addicted to liquor and would constantly abuse and harass her,” said assistant sub-inspector Baliram Chavan.
“We found several discrepancies in the statement given by the woman and her mother during initial questioning and subjected them to some intense questioning, during which the woman confessed to having killed her husband and dumped his body with the help of her mother’s acquaintances,” he said.
Gorkhe’s wife filed the missing person’s complaint on January 30, stating that her husband, a driver, had left for work, but did not return home that day.
