Wife, 3 others get life term for bizman’s murder

YAMUNANAGAR: Yamunanagar court of district and session judge (DSJ) Deepak Aggarwal on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a woman and her paramour to rigorous life imprisonment for murder of her businessman husband in 2016. The two contract killers hired by the duo were given the same sentence.

For the murder of businessman Yogesh Batra of Jagadhri, the court also imposed fine on Priyanka Batra, her paramour and gym trainer Rohit Kumar alias Maddi of Yamunanagar, and Satish Kumar and Shyam Sunder, both of Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh (UP), according to district deputy attorney (DDA) Sanjeev Kumar.

The complaint was filed by the victim Yogesh’s father, Subhash Chander Batra of Udhamgarh Nagar district in Uttarakhand, against Priyanka and Rohit under section 302 (murder) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Jagadhri City police station on September 21, 2016.

Police added names of Satish and Shyam and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence), 404 (dishonest misappropriation of dead man’s property), and 203 (giving false information) of the IPC to the FIR. Subhash has alleged that his son Yogesh, who ran Batra Plywood Industries , was found dead at his home in Jagadhri on May 28, 2016, and Priyanka told him that Yogesh died of a heart attack and they cremated him without autopsy.

Subhash said later they came to know that their son was murdered by his wife in connivance with her gym trainer Rohit.
