Widnes Vikings close in on Oldham duo as part of major recruitment drive

Widnes Vikings have raided Oldham for two of their star players.

Rugby League Live can reveal the Championship side have continued to bolster their squad in preparation for 2022 with the additions of former star Ryan Ince and promising prop Tyler Dupree.

Widnes-born Ince spent four seasons in the Vikings first-team before leaving midway through the 2019 season after not being selected for the 1895 Final defeat at Wembley.

He landed at Oldham for the current campaign after a brief spell at Leigh but is now set to reunite with his former teammates at his old stomping ground.

Following in his footsteps will be former Leeds Rhinos Academy graduate Tyler Dupree, the young forward who has made a big impression with the Roughyeds.

The Halifax-based prop has been one of Oldham's star performers since making the move from Leeds and has earned himself a move to Widnes as part of a drive to bolster their pack for 2022.

Widnes have highlighted forwards as the key focus ahead of next year after struggling in the middle throughout the season.

Dupree, 21, will be part of a new-look middle for next year, with further additions expected.

The club has already signed winger Brad Holroyd from League 1 powerhouses Workington Town and are in talks with Sheffield Eagles forward Aaron Brown, who scored a hat-trick against Widnes in the 1895 Cup Final.
