Wide receiver Jordy Nelson to visit Seahawks on Tuesday

Now that the first wave of free agency is in the books, teams can take time for longer looks at the remaining players available. The Seattle Seahawks will do just that, hosting wide receiver Jordy Nelson on Tuesday for a visit, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.

Nelson was originally selected by the Packers in the second round of the 2008 NFL draft. After 10 seasons in Green Bay, he was released last March and signed a two-year deal with the Raiders, who cut him on Thursday.

The Seahawks are undoubtedly looking to beef up their receiving corps and Nelson would offer an immediate veteran presence.

General manager John Schneider was still with Green Bay when Nelson was drafted and “loves” the wide receiver, per Schefter’s tweet. However, Nelson’s price tag could be cause for Seattle to look in a different direction if a reasonable contract number can’t be reached.

Seattle might not be Nelson’s only stop on his tour to find a new team, as other clubs have expressed interest in the seasoned veteran, including the Patriots, Titans and Chiefs. The Raiders could also be hoping to re-sign Nelson at a reduced rate.
