Wide receiver John Ursua making most of limited targets in preseason

Seattle Seahawks rookie wide receiver John Ursua hasn’t had many targets this preseason and has just four receptions after Saturday’s win, but he’s been making the most of his limited opportunities.

Urusa finished the night against the Chargers as the Seahawks’ leading receiver with two catches for 52 yards, totaling 100 yards this summer.

The Seahawks’ seventh-round selection out of Hawaii is battling a crowded wide receiver room for a spot on the 53-man roster, although injuries are slowly taking a toll on the position group. Last week, veteran David Moore injured his shoulder in Thursday’s practice and second-round pick DK Metcalf underwent minor knee surgery.

Ursua’s performance in Los Angeles is exactly what the young receiver needed to stand out from the pack.

He and the rest of the Seahawks contending for spots have one final shot this preseason to impress when Seattle takes on Oakland at home to wrap up the exhibition games before the start of the regular season.

The Seahawks must trim their roster to 53 players by Saturday, Aug. 31 at 1:00 p.m. PT.
