Wide receiver Jazz Ferguson making his case for Seahawks roster spot

The Seattle Seahawks have a crowded wide receiver room this summer, with a number of players competing for spots on the regular-season roster. While the media focus has been mostly on returning veterans David Moore and Jaron Brown, as well as second-round draft pick, DK Metcalf, another receiver is making a name for himself.

Jazz Ferguson, an undrafted free agent out of Northwestern State-Louisiana, was one of Seattle’s standouts in the team’s preseason win Thursday night over the Broncos.

“I really liked the way he played, and we were looking for him a couple of other times, too,” coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “We had a couple of other calls where we trying to feed it to him a bit. He had a really impressive start. He has been like that at practice as well, so it’s a nice job by him.”

For the Seahawks, Ferguson logged four catches and a touchdown on four targets for 54 yards. He finished the night as Seattle’s leading receiver.

“He didn’t get drafted, because there were reasons, and whatever, in his past,” Carroll noted. “We’re giving him a chance to see if he can be with us and play right and play well and do his thing.”
