Wide receiver Adam Humphries could surprise for Washington in 2021

The Washington Football Team made upgrading wide receiver a major priority this offseason. Terry McLaurin needed help, and Washington brought in Curtis Samuel via free agency.

The team wasn’t done, selecting Dyami Brown in the third round of the NFL draft.

However, those two players weren’t the only additions at wide receiver this offseason. Not long after signing Samuel, Washington also signed veteran receiver Adam Humphries.

Humphries, who signed a one-year deal in March, spent the last two seasons with the Tennessee Titans. Humphries played in a total of 12 games for the Titans over the previous two seasons.

Before signing with Tennessee in 2019, Humphries had a breakout season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. So, who was Humphries’ quarterback for two seasons in Tampa Bay?

That would be Ryan Fitzpatrick. And the pair aren’t wasting any time in rekindling their old connection.

In a recent episode of “Washington Football Today,” Humphries told Fred Smoot how important it was to play with Fitzpatrick again.

“It’s great to link back up with Fitzy,” Humphries said. “We had a great relationship in Tampa [during] the two years we were there together. The two or three weeks I’ve been here have been awesome.”

The two best seasons of Humphries’ six-year NFL career came with Fitzpatrick on the roster. He totaled 137 receptions in his final two seasons with Tampa Bay.

While everyone is excited about Samuel and Brown, perhaps Humphries is being overlooked. He shouldn’t be. If Humphries is healthy, he will make an impact on Washington’s offense in 2021.
