Wickes targets disappointed MFI customers

It didn't take long for MFI's rivals to spot an opportunity for some much-needed extra sales. Just a day after the fitted furniture retailer lurched into administration, DIY chain Wickes is promising to step into the breach.

Wickes is taking out adverts promising to supply a new bathroom to anyone who is forced to cancel an existing order with MFI, at the same price, in time for Christmas.
"We understand this is a difficult time for customers and businesses alike and we are happily in the position to make this bathroom offer which will ensure that customers who had placed unfulfilled new bathroom orders with MFI get delivery on time and at no extra cost," said managing director Jeremy Bird.

Kingfisher, the company behind B&Q, warned earlier today that demand for new kitchens and bathrooms had fallen sharply in the past few months – so the demise of MFI may encourage more companies to follow Wickes' lead.

Yesterday, MFI's website was offering 70% price cuts and free delivery in a last-ditch attempt to drum up some business. So if you were tempted by such generous terms and placed an order, you ought to be able to get the same bargain from Wickes!
