People who use Freeview to watch television might be having difficulties finding channels today.
But if you woke up to find a 'no signal' message on your telly, there's a simple explanation, as well as an easy way to fix it.
It’s because engineers are working on transmitters - including the Winter Hill tower which provides TV services for much of the North West.
Freeview channels are moving to new frequencies to allow for new mobile broadband services to be developed, following a decision by Ofcom.
“Changes are being made to the way some channels are broadcast on Freeview,” the digital TV platform Freeview says on its website.
“You may need to retune your TV equipment to continue watching programmes when these take place in your area.”

Those experiencing issues with their signal can get around it and bring their channels back by simply retuning their TV or set top box.
Many devices will have a message just requiring you to press ‘OK’ to start that operation - but for some it involves going into the menus and doing it manually.
How to get your channels back
While your device might have slightly different buttons or menus, retuning your TV usually involves the following steps:
- Press menu on your box or TV remote control
- Select set up, installation, update, or a similar option. (If you’re asked for a password, the default code is 1234 or 0000)
- Select first-time installation (sometimes called factory reset, full retune or default settings).
- Press OK if your equipment asks if it's OK to delete existing channels, then your retune should start automatically.
- If prompted, save the channels that are found.
Once you’ve retuned your TV or set top box, it’s important to make sure that any scheduled recordings are still active as they could have been removed.
