Why you shouldn't cook these three popular foods in your air fryer

It appears air fryers are one the most sought-after appliances on the planet right now. Big name retailers have been reporting spikes in sales as people look at ways to reduce energy bills during the cost-of-living crisis.

Another reason why people may be clamouring to buy an air fryer is the health factor, as very little oil is used during cooking. Having an air fryer might be a 'life-changer' for some, however there are some foods that simply don't cook well in these mega popular appliances.

As reported by ECHO, the air fryer has its fans where people will rave about perfect roasties or scrumptious desserts. However, some may be disappointed to learn that not all foods cook well using the culinary device.

TikTok user The Board Housewife (@theboardhousewifepdx) shared her top three foods that aren't too impressive in an air fryer. In a clip, which has been viewed more than 350,000 times, the social media user listed three foods that you shouldn't put in an air fryer.

She captioned the video: "Just don't." Here is the video.

While speaking to the camera she said: "Three items to never fry in your air fryer. One, a recipe with a lot of cheese on top."

She explained why this is a bad idea. She said: "The cheese is going to melt before your item is cooked and create a huge gooey mess."

The housewife included a top tip to avoid sticky cheese as she suggested adding cheese two minutes before the rest of the meal has finished cooking. Her second food item to avoid was rice.

She said: "Even with the special insert it never cooks evenly. Just use a rice cooker instead."

Finally, she recommended avoiding cooking cake donuts in an air fryer. The social media user said: "The sour cream in their dense batter of sugar and flour is a flop, don't try it."
