Why you should never throw away your McDonald's receipt

A McDonald's fan has urged people not to ditch their receipts when they stop in at the fast-food giant for a meal, revealing each one could save you more than £2.

The woman took to social media to explain how a simple McDonald's receipt - that most of us ditch along with the bags and boxes - could save you more than £2 on your next meal.

And, Manchester Evening News reports, the trick will take you just two minutes.

The woman explained all in a post on the popular money saving Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK.

She told members of the group that the receipt has a unique survey code at the bottom which can be used to get a Big Mac and fries for £1.99 - saving you £2.29.

Her post read: "MCDONALD'S HACK. Don’t throw your receipt and use it for the discount.

"I always keep Mcd receipts in my wallet for use it in the future.

"Doing the survey doesn't take more than 2 mins.

The woman continued: "£1.99 for Big Mac + medium Fries (yes you have option to change the burger). Sometimes I change it to Quarter Pounder.

"Big Mac + Fries without receipt= £3.09 + 1.19 = £4.28. With receipt = £1.99 You save £2.29

"If you and your partner use same hack (yes you need two receipts on separate orders) you can save £2.29 x 2 = £4.58. Enjoy!!"
