Why you recognise Britain's Got Talent comedian John Archer as TV past revealed

Britain’s Got Talent viewers may just spot a familiar face on the show tonight, as comedian John Archer takes to the stage for his semi-final performance following his hilarious audition.

John is no stranger to talent shows or big crowds though, and has even been a part of a number of big TV shows in recent years.

The BGT hopeful credits himself as a writer, actor, comedy magician and comedian on his website, while he also has an IMDB page displaying an impressive list of credentials.

He even showed off his impressive magic and comedy combo skills in front of none other than American magicians and entertainers Penn and Teller.

Comedian and comedy magician John Archer auditioned on BGT (Dymond/Thames/Syco/REX)

On their ITV show Fool Us, hosted by Jonathan Ross back in 2011, John was successful in tricking the masterminds.

Prior to that John also starred in various roles on fellow comedian Jon Culshaw’s hit series The Impressionable Jon Culshaw in 2004, with him also writing for the series.

John also starred in the CBBC series Help! My Supply Teacher's Magic, while other writing credentials include the Lee Mack series Not Going Out for the BBC.

But it doesn’t stop there, with the hopeful also having written for Challenge TV’s series Fort Boyard amongst other shows.

So if you think you’ve seen him somewhere before, or even recognise his material, there’s a chance you have done.

From being behind the screen and in the more minor roles, John is now hoping to take the spotlight for himself.

David Walliams was called on stage to help John (Dymond/Thames/Syco/REX)

The comedian told the judges during his audition that he didn’t bring anyone with him as it would make him “too nervous” to perform.

For his trick, John asked judge David Williams up onto the stage and showed him a series of cards with different drinks written on them.

John left the crowd in hysterics as he tried to encourage David to pick a particular card, and he made it through to the next round, before being chosen for the live semi-finals.

Britain’s Got Talent 2019 semi-finals air live on ITV at 7:30pm all this week.
