Why William and Kate weren't at Royal wedding - along with Charles and Camilla

There were tears and cheers from members of the Royal Family today as Lady Gabriella Windsor tied the knot with Thomas Kingston.

Lady Gabriella, 38 - the daughter of the Queen's cousin Prince Michael of Kent - looked every inch the perfect bride as she glided down the aisle of St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

However, despite the impressive collection of British aristocracy who came out in force for the stunning ceremony - including the Queen and Prince Harry - there were some noticeable absences.

This included Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, who was the only member of the Middleton family not to attend.

Her sister Pippa and husband James Matthews - the brother of Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews - were among the guests and joined Pippa and Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton.

Pippa is close friends with Lady Gabriella's now-husband Thomas, who attended her wedding to James in May 2017.

While brother, James Middleton, also arrived with his girlfriend, Alizee Thevenet.

It is not known why Kate, 37, skipped the wedding, however it is believed she may have been working on-site at Chelsea ahead of the annual flower show which begins on Tuesday.

Kensington Palace did not wish to comment.

While husband Prince William also did not attend as he is set to hand out the FA cup trophy at Wembley stadium later this evening.

Earlier in the week, Kensington Palace confirmed: "The Duke of Cambridge, President of the FA, will attend the 2019 FA Cup Final between Manchester City and Watford at Wembley Stadium, and will present the trophy to the winners."

Meanwhile, Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, were also not among the guests.

Charles was the only one of the Queen's children who didn't attend.

A Clarence House spokesman kept tight-lipped over why the pair were not there and when asked by Mirror Online they refused to comment.

In the past it was reported that Lady Gabriella's mother, Princess Michael of Kent, did not get on with Princess Diana when she was married to Charles.

When speaking to News of the World reporter Mazher Mahmood, disguised as a fake sheikh in September 2005, she described her as a "bitter" and "nasty" woman.

She also said Charles was "jealous" of her popularity and had merely married a "womb". Although it's not clear whether these comments caused any rift.

New mum Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, also did not attend however husband Prince Harry did make an appearance and beamed with happiness as he joked with grandparents the Queen and Prince Philip.

Among the other guests were the Queen's daughter Princess Anne and her second husband Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, as well as Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex.

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, were joined by their daughter Princess Beatrice with her boyfriend Edoardo Marpelli Mozzi.

Princess Eugenie, who married Jack Brooksbank at the same venue in October, was not present but later posted a photograph of the couple from their wedding and gushed: "Congratulations dear Ella and Tom!! You look absolutely stunning."

Meanwhile, the bride arrived in a vintage Rolls Royce accompanied by her father, who posed with her on the steps as attendants arranged her beautiful Luisa Beccaria wedding dress .

The stunning gown was by Italian designer Luisa Beccaria.  It was made of lace, embroidered with flowers and embellishments and its blush shade came from layers of tulle and organdie beneath the lace, which created the body of the gown.

The newlyweds shared a kiss on the steps of St George's Chapel surrounded by friends and family this afternoon and moved onto the reception at Frogmore House - where Meghan and Harry staged their wedding dinner.

The bridesmaids and pageboys wore outfits by the same designer.

Isabella and Maud Windsor - Lady Gabriella's nieces - and the other bridesmaids wore cream dresses with blush underlays and sashes, with flower rings in their hair in a similar style to the bouquet.

Why Princess Beatrice's date at Lady Gabriella's wedding is actually a very big deal

Maud, the eldest daughter of Lord Frederick Windsor and Peep Show actress Sophie Winkleman, was part of the bridal party at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's wedding in October.

Mr Kingston arrived at the chapel on foot with his best man, closely followed by the mother of the bride, in a lilac gown and embroidered overcoat, who was accompanied by Lady Gabriella's brother.

It is the third royal wedding in the 15th-century venue in less than a year following the star-studded nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex last May and Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank in October.

Guests were due to be served smoked Scottish salmon and asparagus risotto and canapes, as well as Caragh Chocolates from the Isle of Sark.

Lady Gabriella - a minor royal who works as an arts and travel director for a brand company - and Mr Kingston announced their engagement in September last year after the groom proposed while they were on the island of Sark last summer.
