A military helicopter was spotted flying over a park in Oldham on Wednesday afternoon.
David Shepherd filmed the CH-47 Chinook as it hovered low over Clayton Playing Fields in Royton, before setting off again.
He said: "I'm not sure what it was doing there.
"It just came to about 20 feet off the ground, seeming as if to land with the bay doors open, then took off north."
He said it was normal for helicopters to land on the field, but not military ones.
A spokesman for the RAF said the helicopter was there for a 'routine training exercise'.
He said the helicopter was from a military base in Hampshire.
It landed at the Royal Oldham Hospital nearby.
He said: "The RAF can confirm the aircraft seen was a 27 Sqn Chinook, from RAF Odiham conducting routine training."
