Why Virat Kohli's dismissal wasn't a no-ball

The Hawk-Eye technology to determine no-balls for height came into focus at the Eden Gardens on Sunday against RCB and India super star Virat Kohli in the game against hosts KKR.

Kohli was dismissed, caught and bowled by Harshit Rana for 18 off 7 balls off a high full toss that was actually a slower delivery. Kohli though was outside the crease and the ball seemed to be losing trajectory when the batter made contact.

Michael Gough, who was the TV umpire, adjudged that had Kohli been in his normal batting stance, the ball would have passed the batter at 0.92 metres from the playing surface.

The height of Kohli's waist was measured prior to the tournament at 1.04 metres. However, the batter walked away unhappy.
