Why Victor Lindelof is not playing for Manchester United vs Watford

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Victor Lindelof is not injured but will miss Manchester United's fixture against Watford in the Premier League.

The Norwegian coach takes charge of his first match since officially being made first-team manager when Watford visit Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

Solskjaer will be looking to bounce back from two consecutive defeats in the match, but will have to do so without the help of first-team centre-back Lindelof.

The Sweden international misses out from the starting line up against Watford, and Solskjaer has revealed that his absence is not down to injury but the player has had 'some issues'.

"It is a good team we have put out. There are still a couple that we are still nurturing," he told MUTV.

"Jesse (Lingard) and Romelu (Lukaku) are yet to play a full game yet, Victor is not injured, he had some issues. But the team is good, the training week has been really good. Good focus, good intensity. It looks alright."

Solskjaer will be hoping to begin his official tenure as manager with three points, however speaking ahead of the game he insisted the match was not about him.

He added: "This is not about me. It is not about that, but of course I am here to know that I am here for the future and of course today the work starts. It is the real beginning. Mini-league left, eight games left, if we manage to get 18 or 20 points we will be able to get top three."
