Why Victor Lindelof is not in Manchester United squad vs Fulham

Manchester United left Victor Lindelof out of the squad to face Fulham as he continues to nurse a persistent back problem.

The centre-back returned to the side to face Liverpool at the weekend and impressed alongside Harry Maguire in the goalless draw at Anfield.

But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left Lindelof out of the squad against the Cottagers, with Eric Bailly back in the side as one of three changes from the weekend.

“He’s not bad, it’s still his back we’ve got a few issues with, I felt it was better he stayed home, trained a bit and can be ready for the weekend," Solskjaer told MUTV.

The other changes see Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood return in place of Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford and Solskjaer wanted fresh legs against a dogged Fulham side.

“We want to freshen things up, all three will have an impact tonight, they’ve been in good form, we’re waiting for Mason to kick on and Eric and Edi have been playing really well," he said.

United will face Fulham at Craven Cottage with Storm Christoph battering parts of the country, but Solskjaer is feeling at home.

“This is the west coast of Norway weather. It wakes you up if there’s any disappointment from the last game or some sleepiness from the travel," he added.
