Why Tyson Fury has no plans to fight in UK after Tom Schwarz showdown

Tyson Fury admits his £80m deal with Top Rank and ESPN means there are no plans for a return to the UK any time soon.

The Gypsy King makes his Las Vegas debut against German Tom Schwarz this weekend.

Fury, 30, is then expected to fight in America again in September before a rematch with Deontay Wilder early next year which will also be in the States.

He said: “ESPN are paying a lot of money to have me here and I don’t think they’d be too happy if I flew home and fought.”

The Manchester-born fighter is so relaxed he messed around at Wednesday’s final press conference with his opponent and even pretended to pucker up for him.

But he insists he is not overlooking him with a huge rematch with Wilder on the cards.

He said: “I’ve no need to dress anything up or tell any lies. The only thing I’m concerned about is Tom Schwarz, all 6ft 5in of him and all 18st of him.

“I have to get past Tom on the night and that’s all I care about. The rest of it – Deontay Wilder trilogy and what not – thats all well and fantastic but it’s not realistic at this moment because nothing in heavyweight boxing is a given.

“We have a very important fight coming up on Saturday night.

“Then I want to fight again in September and I know it won’t be Wilder as he is fighting Luis Ortiz, and I hope to get out in December to get match fit.

“I’ve signed a multi-fight deal with Top Rank and I believe they will get me the fights that I need.”
