Why Tottenham Hotspur made Andy Robertson TV decision after Liverpool red card

Tottenham Hotspur supporters were fuming with Liverpool defender Andy Robertson after a replay of his challenge on Emerson Royal was played on the big screen at London Stadium during the thrilling 2-2 draw on Sunday.

Spurs were already aggrieved after suggesting Dele Alli should have had a penalty just moments before Robertson put Liverpool 2-1 ahead.

Liverpool scored seconds later and the goal was reviewed by VAR for a handball by Mohamed Salah.

But the strike was given and Tottenham eventually equalised through Son-Heung Min before Robertson was dismissed.

Referee Paul Tierney initially awarded a yellow card but after reviewing the footage changed his mind and dismissed the Scottish left-back.

Robertson was jeered as a replay of the challenge was played on the big screen as he left the field, with some fans questioning why a poor tackle from Harry Kane was not shown in the first-half.

But it is understood Premier League protocol is only show VAR overturns are played on big screens inside stadiums.
