Why 'Tottenham fan' Kendrick Lamar was in crowd for Arsenal vs Liverpool in the Premier League

Sunday saw one of the most impressive wins in Arsenal's recent history as they defeated Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium. Bukayo Saka's late penalty sealed victory for Mikel Arteta's side as they maintained their position at the top of the Premier League.

They were cheered on by a full house at the Emirates, whose vociferous and increasingly positive support is guiding the young side towards their goals this season. Also in the stands was American rapper and superstar Kendrick Lamar who lent his support to the Gunners on a memorable afternoon in North London.

Lamar is currently in Europe for a his Big Steppers Tour, having released his successful Mr Morale and the Big Steppers album earlier this year. While he is still playing European dates until October 31, the 35-year-old will be in the UK and Ireland between Novermber 2 and 16.

The star is known for keeping a low profile on social media, with his Instagram page currently blank and having admitted in an interview this year: "if I feel I have to remove myself, I just remove myself". However, he was snapped on the pitch after the match, taking pictures with stars such as Eddie Nketiah alongside fellow rapper and Arsenal fan Baby Keem.

Many fans reacted to the news, with some pointing out the fact that Lemar has previously been pictured wearing Tottenham shirts and is cited as a fan of the Gunners' North London rivals. Others made references to a former viral Twitter exchange which dates back to Arsenal's pursuit of the similarly named Thomas Lemar of Atletico Madrid.

Lamar joins a growing list of Arsenal fans, with Logan Paul having joined the ranks of celebrity supporters due to his partnership with KSI and the club through their PRIME drink. In the build-up to the match, Paul was challenged to a bet by his brother, Jake, with his Liverpool-supporting younger brother bound to have been disappointed by the weekend's result.
