The Tennessee Titans have selected Mississippi State DT Jeffrey Simmons with the 19th overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Simmons is an elite talent in this class. He has excellent hands and is strong at the point of attack in both run defense and in rushing the passer. He is powerful and stout in all aspects of his game. The biggest question marks with him are how comfortable are the Titans with his off field history and how worried they are about his ACL tear.
For the Titans, taking the chance on Simmons could turn out to be quite beneficial. He is a top five player in this class if healthy and has a chance to return to that form after recovery.
The risk does lie with the Titans now having both of their defensive tackles coming off of major injuries but he has the ability to become a great player in this league. Risky pick with the ability to be an absolute homerun.
