Why TikTok influencers will be given their very own ‘creator’ debit card

  • TikTok has partnered with Visa to launch a new debit card for content creators in the UK, aiming to streamline financial management within the burgeoning creator economy.
  • The 'creator card' is designed to enhance cash flow and provide quicker access to earnings for creators, particularly those receiving virtual gifts during TikTok Live sessions.

  • Lucy Demery of Visa stated the initiative aims to give creators faster access to income from TikTok Live, brand partnerships, and platform payouts, enabling them to spend, plan, and reinvest immediately.
  • A Visa-commissioned survey revealed that nearly half of content creators (49%) experience negative impacts from late or inconsistent payments, with 41% having to decline opportunities due to cash flow issues.
