Why Three Brothers burger bar has taken a trip up river

One of Bristol’s best loved burger bars has taken a trip up river.

The Three Brothers Burger Bar has made the short journey from its home at Welsh Back to the Albion Dry Dock, to under go essential maintenance.

And it won’t be long before the floating eaterie is back in situ - with the work expected to take three to four weeks to complete.

Owner Arne Ringner has owned the restaurant, previously the Spyglass, for the last 20 years.

In its previous life the boat, which is around 75 years old, was used on the Sharpness canal as a mud dredger.

“The boat is off for some essential maintenance,” said Mr Ringner. “It needs work to scrape and clean the underneath and it will be repainted.”

In the meantime people longing for a burger can order from the Three Brothers’s sister restaurant Fish at Bristol Bridge. “We have a loyal following and in the meantime have transferred our kitchen to our sister restaurant Fish,” said Mr Ringner. “They will be cooking burgers as well as the normal fish dishes.”

The Three Brothers Burger bar seats around 140 people and is a favoured floating eaterie in the city.

It is expected to make a return to Welsh Back in mid February.
