Why this busy Weston-super-Mare road junction will be closing for seven nights

A busy junction in Weston-super-Mare is to close for seven nights for roadworks to be carried out.

Milton Road will be shut from Hill Road to the other side of Ashcombe Road, including the junction, weeknights from January 8-14 between 7pm and 6am.

The £50,000 scheme, which is part of North Somerset Council’s road maintenance programme, will include road patching, drainage repairs and footpath resurfacing.

North Somerset Council’s executive member for highways Councillor James Tonkin, said: “The quickest and safest way for us to carry out this vital maintenance work is to close the road.

“We are doing this overnight between 7pm and 6am as our traffic data shows this to be the quietest time.”

A signed diversion route will be in place and traffic marshals will be on site to help with property access during the work.

The number seven bus will also be diverted around the closure.

Bus stops inside the scheme will be closed, but there are stops near each end that will remain open.
