Concerned citizens contacted us yesterday saying there were police on Northumberland Street.
We quickly contacted Northumbria Police to find out what was going down.
Luckily, there was no dramatic showdown or emergency incident, as police officers were involved in a training exercise.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that officers from neighbouring forces took part in a planned training exercise in the Northumberland Street area of Newcastle today (Monday).”
