Why there is a search-light in the sky and a huge black & white tent in Gosforth

It's a big tent - and putting it up is a big job, not made any easier by high winds, as you can see in the video.

Tuesday saw some of the highest winds of January in Newcastle with speeds reaching 21mph at their height.

The erection of the huge marquee at Broadway West in Gosforth, Newcastle, was successfully completed but, don't be fooled by its black and white stripes, it has nothing to do with Newcastle United.

This timelapse video shows the first stage of building the marquee, which is the setting for Murder Trial Live. The event started on January 29 and is on for six days, with both evening and matinee events.

And now the organisers have put a search-light in the sky too!

The idea featured on BBC's Dragon's Den and comes from the creators of Anatomy Lab Live- a dissection and dinner experience backed by Dragons Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones.

The murder trial invites you to become a juror in the mysterious fictional case of The Brewer Brothers, who disappeared in 1993. And inside the - heated - tent it is set up like a courtroom with barristers, witnesses and a judge.

The audience of "jurors" can dine and drink along during the four-hour show should they choose to, as there are street food outlets, a prosecco bar, craft gin bar and sweet treats on sale.

Tickets for the event cost from £48.50, including booking fee, and are available here. Parking costs an extra £5 per car.
