Why there is a Christmas Winter Wonderland on this Liverpool street in June

A busy city centre road has been given a Christmas makeover by a decorating company loved by both celebrities and footballers.

Victoria Street, home to some of the city's most popular nightclubs, today looks like a winter wonderland thanks to restaurant Dash recruiting The Christmas Decorators' help.

The listed building in which Dash is based will soon be wrapped in 10,000 twinkling lights and a huge garland of foilage, adding super-sized baubles and topping it all off with a 35ft Christmas tree over its main staircase entrance.

However, it is not just inside Dash as Christmas will be spilling out onto the street with decorations on nearby bus stops, with a Sleigh on top of the one directly outside the restaurant.

It's all part of Dash's Christmas in June event which will be getting its customers ready - six months early - to celebrate.

Ahead of installing the decorating, throughout last night, Adele Gregson, director of Christmas Decorators, said: "Because it's only fuly in place for one night, we're going all out to make it amazing.

"The most difficult part for us is the building itself, and also being in the city centre on one of the busiest streets in Liverpool, so by working overnight hopefully we'll be like the little elves who come in and create Christmas while everyone else is asleep."

Taking place this evening thanks to Liverpool's Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols, luxury brands including Tom Ford and Gucci will be showcasing their latest collections alongside jewellery and watches from David M Robinson this evening.

Dean Jones, one of four partners in The 15 Group who owns Dash and XOXO hopes to make Christmas a memorable one for his customers.

He said: "Because we opened just before Christmas last year, we were now new to the city and everyone was just discovering us.

"Now we're established as one of the best restaurants in Liverpool we want to give everyone a glimpse of what they can look forward to.

"The building is such a great landmark, we really want it to be the centrepiece of our celebration, to make people curious and get them talking."

Both Dash and nightclub XOXO are running a competition giving its customers a chance to win a prize valued at around £5,000.

The prize includes a Christmas meal, Rolls Royce transport to Dash and much more.
