Why the road in Llandaff North was closed today?

A pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Cardiff.

Emergency services were sent to the incident in Llandaff North at 7.34am on Tuesday (September 7).

South Wales Police said they were called to reports of a "road traffic collision" involving one vehicle and a pedestrian outside the Texaco garage on Station Road.

They said a 39-year-old woman was involved and taken to hospital for treatment.

The A4054 on Llandaff Bridge was closed in both directions as emergency services worked at the scene and they were able to re-open the road around 9.05am.

The area is close to Glantaff High School and opposite the local Lidl store. The road closure caused long delays through the Llandaff area of the city, and congestion was back to Howell's school on Cardiff road.

There were also delays on the Llantrisant Road for traffic coming into the city. For many pupils in the area it was the first day back to school after the summer break.

The Welsh Ambulance Service confirmed that one person was taken to hospital following the incident.

A spokesman said: "We were called at 7.34am to reports of road traffic collision involving a pedestrian.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and one patient was taken to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff for further treatment."

Their condition is not yet known.
