Why the Red Arrows flew over Cardiff today

If you spotted the Red Arrows flying over Cardiff doing their iconic red, white and blue display you be wondering why or what this was for?

The flyover took place over City Hall as the Red Arrows helped launched a new exhibition about Wales' role in the Battle of Britain.

The exhibition opened today, Thursday, September 16, and is only in Cardiff for two days before going on a tour of Wales so that everybody can see it.

Covering the 67 Welsh pilots that fought in the Battle of Britain, the exhibition will also look at the only RAF fighter airfield in Wales, RAF Hawarden in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire, and how Welsh cities such as Swansea were bombed in the war.

Open from 12pm until 4pm on Thursday and 9am until 4pm on Friday, September 16, the exhibition is free to enter and you do not have to book.

It features stories including Welsh squadron commander Edward Graham, who courageously lead his flight of six fighters against 50 enemy planes as well as the lives of the 17 Welsh pilots who lost their lives during the Battle of Britain will be part of the exhibition.

After Cardiff the exhibition will go on a tour of Wales, information and dates have not been released for this yet.

The exhibition will be open in Cardiff's City hall from 12 PM to 4 PM on Thursday, September 16, and from 9 AM to 4 PM on Friday, September 17.
