Why the Pelicans called out the Carolina Panthers after the NBA Draft

Zion Williamson won the night on Thursday when he officially became the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft, a result that virtually everyone expected since Williamson took over the college basketball world in his lone season at Duke.

Williamson was the top trending topic on Twitter for much of the day, and the Carolina Panthers tried to make the most of a viral moment by sharing photos of a care package the team is sending to Zion, who is from South Carolina.

The Pelicans noticed the Panthers’ message, but questioned why the team made no mention of the Charlotte Hornets’ trio of picks. Carolina also gave shoutouts to Ja Morant and Coby White, but left out Charlotte’s PJ Washington, Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels

The New Orleans Saints stepped up on Friday morning to congratulate the Hornets on their draft haul.
