The Pittsburgh Steelers made a bold move on Thursday night, trading three picks to move up 10 spots in the first round. The move was to land former Michigan inside linebacker Devin Bush. What does Bush bring to the Steelers defense?
First and foremost it’s speed off the football. On film, Bush might have been a better off-ball coverage linebacker than Devin Bush who went ahead of him in the round. The Steelers have been trying in vain to replace Ryan Shazier and this move is absolutely going all in to find a guy who is the type of athlete Shazier was.
If the addition of Bush can allow Pittsburgh to play more base defense and fewer sub packages, fans need to be excited about it. This team has it’s best talent on the field when they play 3-4 but have been forced out of it due to shortcomings in coverage.
