You have to appreciate the philosophy the Pittsburgh Steelers have taken in the 2019 NFL draft. The team has chosen to not only draft players who are exceptional football players but also high-character guys who love the game. This trend continued into the fourth round with the selection of running back Benny Snell Jr. out of Kentucky.
But you might be wondering if it was wise for the Steelers to spend a fourth-round pick on any running back. After all, Pittsburgh already has James Conner and Jaylen Samuels. But this should not assuage your excitement for Snell because this young man can play.
And considering we saw Conner go down with an injury last season, you can never have enough quality starting running backs. Make no mistake, Snell has the package of skills to be a feature back in the NFL. The fact Pittsburgh might never need it is just a bonus for them.
