Why Spurs still have the transfer edge over Arsenal despite William Saliba & Dani Ceballos deals

Former Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway believes players are now choosing to join Tottenham Hotspur over Arsenal as they are a more attractive club.

Spurs have come on leaps and bounds under the stewardship over Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine guiding his side to the Champions League final last season.

And even though the Gunners announced the signings of Dani Ceballos and William Saliba on Thursday afternoon, Holloway still insists that any young player approaching their prime would rather join Pochettino's side than the Gunners.

“If I was a young player right now I would probably go to Spurs, because of their manager,” the former Palace and Millwall boss told talkSPORT.

"Mr Emery has a fantastic record and is a brilliant manager, but for me there’s something about Pochettino that would make me want to die for him.

“He’s got those eyes, he’s trustworthy and for a player it’s all about wanting to do that."

Pochettino hinted to football.london last week that the club could sign a new striker before the transfer window closes amid links to Paulo Dybala.

But was also asked whether 17-year-old Troy Parrott could be part of his plans for the coming season.

"Today, yes [he could be part of the squad], tomorrow, I don’t know," he said.

"We’re working with the [young] players, trying to provide the best platform and possibility for them to perform and be comfortable with the first team.

"He’s still so young but we’ll see what happens at the end of the transfer window.

"If we have the squad that we have today, of course he's going to have the possibility to be with the first team."
