“Why spend Rs 30,000 on ACs?”: Man claims his Rs 800 DIY roof cooling trick lowers temperature by 15 degrees even in 45°C heat

As heatwave conditions continue across several parts of the country, people are constantly searching for low-cost ways to keep their homes cool without relying heavily on air conditioners. In a video that is now gaining attention online, a man shared a simple rooftop cooling method that he claims helped reduce indoor heat at a cost of less than ₹800.

Instead of spending ₹20,000 to ₹30,000 on an air conditioner, the man used a mixture of Fixit URP, white chuna (lime powder), and Fevicol binder to coat his roof and reflect heat. The video has sparked interest among homeowners looking for budget-friendly summer cooling hacks.

He claimed that by using this simple cooling trick, the temperature can go down by 15 degrees Celsius even in brutal heatwaves. He further added that this process is based on science and is a simple, cost-effective method to beat the extreme heat.

What Did the Man Use on the Roof?

The man explained that he prepared a cooling coat using three basic materials:

Fixit URP waterproofing solution

White chuna (lime powder)

Fevicol binder

According to him, the combination helps create a reflective layer on the roof, reducing heat absorption during extreme summer temperatures. He claimed the total expense for the process stayed below ₹800, making it far cheaper than buying or running an air conditioner.
