Why so many women are attracted to Fleabag’s Priest, according to psychologist

Despite lacking a name, the ‘Priest’ from Fleabag has been one of the most talked-about TV characters this year.

The Priest, who features in the second series of Fleabag, forms a close relationship with the lead character, with sexual tension undeniably building with each episode.

Throughout the series, women have flocked to Twitter to discuss their strange attraction to the Priest.

One user said: “Finally watched series 2 of Fleabag and have spent the last seven hours finding ways to distract myself from the hot priest, who may or may not be an emotionally abusive bastard, I don’t care, he’s a fictional priest and I fancy him.”

“Often we love a challenge and the erotic of being told that we can't have something or that it is forbidden can be a real turn on when it comes to sexual fantasies for some people.

“A widely watched show like Fleabag can also really give people permission to explore something new, with the online conversation taking off around the #hotpriest it gives people confidence that they are not alone in their ideas or desires, a bit like the Fifty Shades effect."

Time to watch the second season again, I think....
