Why sniffer dogs will be on patrol at Nottingham Forest's clash with Derby County

Trained sniffer dogs will be in use at the City Ground ahead of Nottingham Forest's East Midlands clash with Derby County tomorrow (Saturday).

The Reds host their neighbours from up the A52 in the lunchtime kick-off for a fixture that has sold out.

Forest have confirmed the specialist dogs will be at "specific points of entry" to the ground to search for pyrotechnics.

The statement read: "Nottingham Forest supporters should be aware that specially trained ‘sniffer dogs’ will be used at specific points of entry to The City Ground ahead of Saturday's game against Derby County.

"The dogs will be searching for all pyrotechnics that anyone may attempt to bring into the ground. The EFL has relaunched its commitment to tackle the use of pyrotechnics, which includes smoke grenades, flares and fireworks within football stadia.

"Supporters of both clubs are therefore advised to arrive at The City Ground as early as possible to avoid long queues at the turnstiles while searches take place."

Forest have won their last two home meetings with the Rams.

Yohan Benalouane's second-minute goal earned the League win back in February, before a comfortable 3-0 triumph in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, courtesy of goals from Albert Adomha, Joe Lolley and Joao Carvalho.
