Why Ryan Tubridy and The Late Late Toy Show will likely impact Level Five lockdown announcement

The Taoiseach's Level Five lockdown announcement this week will likely not take place Friday night due to the Toy Show.

Reports today suggest that Micheal Martin's lockdown exit speech will be made at a time not to impede the biggest TV show of the year.

NPHET are expected to make their recommendation on Thursday with a Cabinet meeting to finalise the December plans on Friday.

Recent big decision have seen an announcement from the Taoiseach in time for the nine-o-clock news on the Friday night.

However, it is reported by Newstalk that any announcement would take place before the show or even on Thursday or Saturday to avoid ruining the kids of Ireland's big night.

The Toy Show will air on Friday, November 27 at 9.35pm, despite fears among some members of the public that the coronavirus pandemic might force a halt.

Responding to a concerned listener on radio last month, Tubs said: "You've got to tell her that this is 100% happening.

"Me and all my friends, and not to mention a few elves, have been working pretty hard."
