Tony O'Donoghue was a notable absentee at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday night as the Republic of Ireland played out a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.
Amazingly it was the first time since 2011 when he was going through cancer treatment that the veteran RTE broadcaster missed an Ireland game.
But he had a very good reason for doing so as it was his daughter's graduation.
He told The Irish Daily Star: "I won't be there for once. But I've a good excuse as my daughter is graduating from UCD.
"I'm very proud of her, she did English and Drama.
"I might check the score but I will watch it when I get home."
