Steven Davis will be the first person to admit he's not been good enough since returning to Rangers .
His acquisition from Southampton was dubbed the signing of the January transfer window as the Ibrox club looked to push on and challenge Celtic for the title.
But that hasn't quite materialised.
The Hoops are 14 points clear of their rivals on the verge of clinching an eighth league title in a row and the Northern Ireland international hasn't lived up to expectations either.
The 34-year-old has been on the fringes of the first team for the most part with Steven Gerrard preferring the likes of Scott Arfield, Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara in the middle of the park.
It's been a different story lately, however. Davis has shown signs of improvement since the international break. He skippered his country, getting on the scoresheet in the process , to successive wins in their two opening Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Celtic fans mock Rangers boss Steven Gerrard with banner against Livingston
He was unlucky not to find himself in the starting XI in the Old Firm defeat, but he continued his good form a few days later with a Man of the Match performance in a 3-0 win over Hearts.
Gerrard was full of praise for Davis and hinted he could find more minutes in the remaining six games saying he looked like a "completely different player".
The Ibrox club might not have anything to play for as the season comes to a close but players like Davis will certainly feel they have a point to prove.
Rangers fans in for a treat as club announces Belfast return
The experienced playmaker is out of contract in the summer and due to his sluggish start in a blue shirt he's by no means guaranteed a new deal at the club.
However, if he can put in a few more performances like he did the other night he might be able to convince Gerrard that he can be asset to Rangers going into next season.
