Why Randal Kolo Muani is not playing for Tottenham against Brighton

Randal Kolo Muani has been ruled out of Tottenham’s trip to Brighton with a dead leg.

The Frenchman made his Spurs debut on Tuesday night in a 1-0 win over Villarreal in the Champions League.

Deadline Day signing Kolo Muani came off the bench for the final 15 minutes in north London and was booked almost immediately as he challenged for the ball within seconds of being introduced.

He will have to wait to make his first start for Tottenham, having picked up a dead leg that means he is not in the squad at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Wilson Odobert starts on the left wing as Xavi Simons drop to the bench, while Destiny Udogie and Joao Palhinha replace Djed Spence and Pape Matar Sarr.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank will hope to have Kolo Muani available in midweek for the Carabao Cup third-round tie against League One side Doncaster.

Speaking ahead of last weekend’s win over West Ham, Frank revealed that Kolo Muani would need time to get up to full fitness.

“Definitely in terms of Randal, it's been a while since he's played,” Frank said.

“Last time was in the Club World Cup. Hasn't trained really with PSG.”
