Why Ralf Rangnick asked Manchester United players to change

Ralf Rangnick told Manchester United's players to 'cut out' their poor body language this week.

United beat Burnley 3-1 on Thursday night to bounce back from their underwhelming performance on Monday versus Newcastle.

After that 1-1 draw at St. James' Park earlier this week, Gary Neville criticised United's display and singled out Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes as two senior professionals that were letting down the team with their poor body language on the pitch.

Neville branded United's players as 'a bunch of whinge-bags' and, while Rangnick denied that draw in the North East was down to poor body language after the game, Scott McTominay has revealed that there have been conversations in the dressing room.

McTominay was asked about accusations surrounding the team spirit at United and he opened up on Rangnick's message.

"I wouldn’t say so, no," McTominay told Amazon Prime when asked if the accusations of poor spirit were fair.

"I feel like the whole reason why the performance was disappointing against Newcastle was the turnovers. Off the ball against Newcastle, I don’t think we were as bad as people were saying.

"Obviously, body language is one thing and the manager has come in and said he wants to cut that out, so that is final.

"All the players have firmly taken it on board and It’s important that we do."
