With the 40th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft – and their fourth pick of the weekend – the Oakland Raiders selected Clemson cornerback Trayvon Mullen.
Mullen is a lengthy and physical press-man cornerback with the size and toughness to excel on the boundary. His six-foot-one, 199-pound frame makes him a physical match with a lot of receivers at the next level. He is good at jamming wide receivers at the line of scrimmage. Mullen is also an impressive athlete for his size, as he has good acceleration coming out of his breaks and fluid hips.
The Raiders entered with a lot of early picks, and their decision to trade back in the second round not only gained them extra selections, but they were still able to secure a high-upside starter for their lackluster secondary.
