Why Prince Charles always wears same pink flower to christenings - including Archie's

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was surrounded by his loving family when he was christened in Windsor over the weekend.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry looked like the proudest parents in the world, and his grandparents Prince Charles, Camilla and Doria Ragland all look smitten in the official photos.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Diana's sisters were also in the lovely family shot, with the family sitting on the same bench that the Diana sat on for Harry's christening snaps.

But eagle-eyed fans have noticed something very, very cute about Charles in the family photos - the flower he was wearing on your jacket.

The heir to the throne has worn a pink Dianthus Devon Wizard to three of his four grandchildren's christening's - Archie, Charlotte and Louis.

However he didn't wear one to George's christening, and this is probably because they only flower from June to September.

George was christened on October 23, so it probably would have been too late in the year unfortunately.

They are believed to be taken from the grounds of his country home Highgrove House.

But why does he always pick this particular flower?

Lavender Green Flowers, the florists behind the Countess of Wessex and Pippa Middleton's weddings, told HELLO! magazine: "Dianthus is believed to have derived from the Greek words 'dios' meaning God and 'anthos' meaning flower – translating as God's or Divine Flower.

THE FIVE HIDDEN MESSAGES THAT WERE BURIED IN ARCHIE'S CHRISTENING PHOTO

"Although there is lots of speculation about what these symbolise, a significant one is that they are believed to be the flower for maternal and undying love."

How sweet!

Archie was christening in a completely private ceremony in Windsor Castle on Saturday.

About 25 people are thought to have attended the small celebration.

His godparents would have been there, however Meghan and Harry have refused to release the names of the people they have chosen so we don't know who they are.
