Why popular Nottingham city centre bar was cordoned off by police

A cordon was set up outside a popular Nottingham city centre bar after a police worker spotted smashed windows.

Montys Bar and Social, on Trinity Square, was taped off by officers on Thursday evening, May 21, after a PCSO spotted broken windows on its first floor.

However, enquiries by Nottinghamshire Police found that no crime was committed and the cordon was set up "for public safety".

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live that the owners of the building were informed about the windows.

The police said: "One of our PCSOs reported a broken first-floor window at a commercial property in Trinity Square, Nottingham, at around 6.30pm on Thursday, May 21.

"As a result of our enquiries we don’t believe that any crime was committed, but we cordoned off the scene for reasons for public safety.

"The owners of the building were also informed."
