Why police were using drones in early hours of the morning in Bulwell street

Police have revealed the reason they sent out the drone team in the early hours of the morning in a "quiet" Bulwell street.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police along with the drones unit attended Logan Street in Bulwell at around 4am on Monday morning (July 13) searching for a missing person.

Around four police cars blocked off a part of the street to carry out their operation.

The man was found safe and well, officers confirmed.

Residents were woken up by the drone team and thought initially it was "roadworks" that disturbed them.

Martin Faulkner, 55, has lived in the area for 30 years and said: "It's a very quiet street. I did not know what was happening to be honest. There were about four police cars there.

"The drone was quite noisy so I didn't have a clue what was happening.

"There's been three or four police incidents in the area recently."

Johan Wareing, 60, of Bulwell, added: "I have to say I thought it was some roadworks at first. It was early though. I looked out the window and saw flashing lights. It was a bit shocking to see. It's a quiet street but there have been [police incidents] recently."

Hayley Watson, 55, who lives near where the police were, added: "It's always a shock to see the blue lights. You think 'what has happened so close to home?'"
