Why police were in Nottingham's Old Market Square

Police have issued a statement after officers were in Old Market Square on Thursday evening.

A number of officers and a police van were seen in the square at around 7.50pm on Thursday, April 15.

Eyewitnesses say a lot of people were stood around watching as officers went to the incident.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said the force were called to reports of some youths causing disruption outside the Five Guys restaurant in Old Market Square.

Officers arrived and dispersed the group, before moving on.

The spokesman for the force confirmed they sent a number of officers to the scene as well as a police van.

Officers who attended were pictured talking to members of the public before leaving the scene upon conclusion of the incident.
